What Makes an Email Blast Successful?

One of the main reasons, I believe our email blast really worked when I compared it to older emails - the title was catchy and fun. You want to entice your customer to open it? For example; October Newsletter, vs The Witch is Out. Which one would you open first?

Create links to your website.

This is a great way to drive people directly to your website. Create links in your email newsletter/blast that can people can easily click on that will bring them directly to your site, fast and easy. Most of the email services out there will allow you to do this. What an easy way for people to hook up to your site.

Make it fun, make it a game.

Everyone likes to play games. Get your customers involved in the game. Make sure its fun, make sure its short. and most of all, make sure that someone can win. Make sure there is a prize. I have a customer that sends email blasts out, and scrambles letters throughout the email, allowing the customer to figure out the scrambled word. "Bring in the answer, and receive a gift." or "Find the hidden shoe inside an ad, and win". Depending upon your business, you decide on the game. Use your creativity.

Get your customers to act, ask them to buy.

A great salesperson always finishes up a presentation by cleverly asking the potential client to purchase. Never send an email blast out without asking your customers to buy. Entice them to act. Whether it be a promo...order a basket today, and receive 1/2 off, or maybe a coupon to use (with an expiration date), it doesn't matter - just ask them. You can't sell anything, if you don't ask them to purchase it.

Email marketing can be fun, inexpensive and successful, and guess what? It works. Try it, and also keep your eye on your competitors and other companies that are using email marketing too. You can get some great ideas without re-inventing the wheel.
